Background
Why this exists
The Charity Compliance Engine was built because the compliance support available to small and medium Scottish charities is not proportionate to what is asked of them. The regulatory framework is substantial. The resources most charities have to navigate it are not.
Generic templates and one-size-fits-all guidance exist in abundance. What does not exist, for most charities, is access to the kind of structured, experienced, specific advice that tells a board, its senior staff and volunteers exactly where they stand and what they need to do about it.
The practice was built to change that. Not as a technology experiment, but as practical support, developed through direct experience of working with Scottish charities and grounded in governance and compliance expertise applied across financial services and the charity sector for over two decades.
Who we are
Who is behind it
The practice is run by Integrity Nexus Ltd, a specialist consultancy founded by Stuart Gilliland, with a track record in regulatory change, financial crime, and complex programme delivery across financial services and the charity sector.
That is twenty years at the sharp end of high-stakes governance and compliance work: directing mandatory change programmes in UK and European banking, building financial crime functions at Nordic regional scale, and working directly with Scottish charities as a trustee and adviser. What we offer charities is an expression of that experience in a form that smaller organisations can access.
The engine is not a product handed to a development team. Every session is adviser-led, the knowledge base reflects direct charity experience, and every refinement comes from real sessions with real charities.
